From the "Only in Alaska" file, a Juneau man was stopped by state troopers for DUI Sunday night while he made his way down a river in a rubber raft. The Fairbanks Daily News Minder reports the suspect, 32-year-old William Modene, was found to have an alcohol level three times the legal limit. He was apparently drinking and floating down the Chena River all day.
Even though Alaska's DUI laws cover boats, infractions are generally found on the road -- or on vessels, unlike Modine's, that have motors.
